Meet Founder Terenika Nelson

Born and raised in Milwaukee and now based in Houston since 2011, I've spent more than nine years as a legal professional and certified paralegal. I've seen the system from both sides - supporting attorneys behind the scenes and standing in court myself as a scared parent in a custody battle. Those experiences, along with my early love for debate and law, showed me how much our legal support system needs to change. Early-career lawyers need better, smarter ways to connect with the right clients.

Everyday people need clear, affordable access to real legal help before it's too late. Up Suit was created to meet both needs - offering a streamlined, trustworthy way for civilians and attorneys to find each other and work together more effectively. I'm stepping out from the background to invite you to explore Up Suit, share feedback, and be part of a more restorative way to practice and experience law.

Our Mission In Plain Language

Our mission is serious but straightforward: help civilians quickly find trustworthy, verified lawyers who clearly explain their fees and guide them calmly, while also helping early‑career attorneys grow honest, sustainable practices. Every part of Up Suit - its design, questions, and matching tools - puts safety, plain language, and genuine human respect first.

What This Platform Is Building Toward

Up Suit is growing into a fully online legal connection hub. Civilians will answer a gentle prompt, choose a legal area, then match with verified lawyers by ZIP code. Attorneys will shape profiles, reach clients without a brick-and-mortar office, and use memberships, consultations, and referrals to grow their practice with intention.

Inclusive By Design

Up Suit is Black-owned and female-led, and inclusivity sits at the center of every choice. We are planning multilingual support, warm visuals, and respectful intake questions so more people feel seen. The goal is a national community where civilians and lawyers stand on equal footing, connected through preparation and shared dignity.
